Sime Darby Plantation Group MD Mohamed Helmy appointed as MPOB chairman

KUALA LUMPUR, March 17 — The Ministry of Plantation and Commodities has appointed Sime Darby Plantation Bhd group managing director Mohamed Helmy Othman Basha as the Malaysian Palm Oil Board’s (MPOB) chairman, effective Feb 1.
In a statement, MPOB’s director general Datuk Dr Ahmad Parveez Ghulam Kadir said the management is confident that Mohamed Helmy’s extensive experience in the palm oil sector would help improve the sustainable development of the country’s palm oil sector.
Mohamed Helmy is currently the Malayan Agricultural Producers Association president and the Malaysian Palm Oil Association’s Research and Development Main Committee chairman.
He is also a member of the Malaysian Palm Oil Council’s Board of Trustees, a member of the Incorporated Society of Planters, a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants. — Bernama
