HRITC renews its fears of deteriorating the situation in Yemen
Thursday , 26 May 2011

Human Rights Information & Training Center HRITC has renewed its fears of deteriorating the situation in Yemen, where the regime attempts  to drag the country into a civil war.

Armed clashes have been starting on Monday May 23 by using different weapons between government forces ( the security forces , rescue and republican guard )and the supporters tribes of Sheikh Sadiq Alahmer, sheikh of Hashed tribes. The armed clashes started after the attack that targeted  the house of Sheikh Alahmer and killed a number of citizens, including known sheikhs whom were attending within the  Commission's formal mediation led by Ghalib Alkamesh ,the  head of political security.

The number of victims until this afternoon Wednesday, 25 May reached 24 dead from the tribal and  hundreds wounded, and 14 soldiers from the employees of the Ministry of Interior and the Central Security and 29 wounded, and 2 missing according to Interior Ministry information.

On the other hand , forces from the Rescue and the Republican Guard have been surrounded the house of opposition parliamentarian Sultan Alsamey in Taiz where he is one of the most prominent opposition figures. HRITC along with human rights activists fear that this act is intended to extend cycle of war that broke out in Sana'a into Taiz, Ibb and Aden, where the largest agglomeration in Yemen, which would threat  of a real humanitarian disaster.

We call on all brotherly and friendly countries , United Nations bodies and the European Union to urgently work to stop the disaster now . We hope all the political forces to take steps in order to maintain security and protect the young protesters and the people in Yemen.
